Lion Fish

While on the brink of a rather 'existential' life crisis and being a life-long crafter, I found myself in the art supply isle of Office Works looking at pastel pencils in June 2025. Having drawn a handfull of semi-decent fish prior to this I figured it was time to invest in the big guns (pencils) instead of relying on the assortment of art supplies I had collected through the years, whether that be from my schooling or parents house.

The Lionfish, while considered largely invasive to most ecosystems, have always been one of my favourites to look at. Their rather impressive spines draw you in, while also being loaded with neurotoxin that in extreme cases can lead to necrosis or anaphylactic shock, but gosh, what doesn’t these days…

Remaining one of my favourites to date, I figured it was only right to be one of the first fish to share - I hope you get as emotionally attached to it as I have.
